Best flea bomber for my home? Help please!

Hello! I hope that you can help me as I have a couple questions that I need answers to. I currently live in a fairly large house, 4 bedrooms and 2 lounges and I have a bad flea problem. They are on my pets and I have even seen them jumping around on my bed. I have a sneaky suspicion that they have been brought into my house by my cat as he usually sleeps on my bed but I am not too sure. I have treated my cat with Advantage flea removal and have checked the dogs as well but they don’t seem to have any fleas which is kind of weird. Anyways, I just want them gone for good so I would appreciate a few answers.

Firstly, I was wondering how many flea bombs I should get because I don’t want to see a lack of results because of getting too little. These flea bombs are rather expensive as well so I don’t want to waste any money, especially at this time of year. And any good brands that you can recommend?

Secondly, how many times should I use the flea bombs to make sure that all the fleas are gone? As mentioned, I have a number of rooms and I also have quite a bit of furniture (like couches, etc that I think are hiding spots of fleas) and I just want to make sure its done properly because I really don’t feel like doing it again.

Lastly, are flea bombs safe? I am willing to buy the best if necessary but I don’t want to put anyone’s health at risk. Do you have any steps that I can take to ensure that this doesn’t happen and will it be strong enough to get rid of flea eggs as well?

Sorry for asking so many questions but I am hesitant to start the removal process without the necessary guidance.

Hey! Let me address each on of your questions individually so that I don’t miss anything.

1) Based on the description on the size of your home, I would recommend placing one in each room (not any toilets though) and ensuring that its placed in the middle if possible. A good brand that I have personally used is raid flea killer. There are a number of others but that’s one that I have had success with. Remember that’s a personal favourite, you are free to make your own choice.

2) The fleas should be killed after a single application of your flea bombers and provided its a decent brand and you use enough of them, it should reach all areas of the house.

3) Flea bombs are fairly safe if used correctly but they do contain chemicals that may require you to give the home a good wipe down and clean after using them. Some claim to be completely safe but even if I use the best flea bomb I will always clean up afterwards as my families health is important to me. To ensure that the eggs don’t hatch into baby fleas, just make sure that the bomber has an insect growth repellent in it (most of them do) and you wont have a repeat infestation at a later stage.

Lastly, just make sure that all your pets/family are out the home when you do the flea bombing and keep your animals out the house for the day until everything is cleaned up. Also remember to make sure your cat is checked often for any fleas.

The actual packaging of the flea bomb should tell you how much distance it will cover. Another thing, since you have a cat, just make sure that the flea bomber doesnt contain something called “permethrin” as it can kill your cat. For some reason its harmless to humans and even dogs but just make sure that it doesnt have that ingredient.

I have never used a flea bomb so I wouldn’t know what the best one is but If your cat still has fleas, I highly recommend using lemon juice to get rid of them. My brother mixed some with water and despite the cats objections, managed to put it on a couple times during the week and now they are all good.
